School may not be in session just yet, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to have some summer fun. Before you send your children off to school, make sure that you also get to spend some quality time with them as a family, or let them socialize with children their own age. They’ll go into the school season relaxed and happy — rather than feeling like summer was a bummer.

From trips to the beach to enrolling your children in local beach camps, here are some fun end-of-summer activities for your family:

Visit a local attraction.

When was the last time you took your kids to the zoo? How about riding the rides at an amusement park or sliding down a water slide? It’s not too late to visit some of the local attractions in your area to have a day of family fun. You can even make it educational by taking your children to the museum or an art gallery or spend some time outdoors at a local park or beach.

Take a mini-vacation.

It’s not too late to pack your bags and head somewhere new for a few days. Everyone in the family can use a vacation, and this is also a great way for families to bond with one another. Whether you travel by RV or SUV, a day or a weekend away from it all can help everyone relax before the busy school season begins.

Take part in local beach camps’ day programs.

If your children haven’t been to any summer camps over the past few months, it may not be too late to check out the day camps in your area. There are as many as 12,000 summer camps throughout the United States, and about 5,000 of them operate as day camps. Beach camps are especially popular in some parts of the country, as they can allow your kids to swim, surf, and soak up some sun before they head off to school. Explore day programs in your area to find something fun for your children.
