Driving a golf cart may look very simple to you, but remember that you should always use it with regard for other people and your own safety. It was during the 1950s that this mini vehicle became a popular mode of transportation on golf courses. However, its use has since branched out from the golfing community, and numerous industries now utilize them for various purposes outside the golf course.
This golfing EV falls under the category of Neighborhood Electric Vehicles. If you’re going to drive it around private roads, you might not need to get a driver’s license.
Although, it still depends on where you live. So it’s better for you to check your local and state laws to find out if you need a permit to drive a golf vehicle. In most states, you can drive this cart on private roads, but you can’t operate it on major highways – especially over long distances.
Another thing to remember is that you must be at least 14 years old if you want to operate this cart. Plus, you can only drive it at a maximum of 15 to 35 mph. And if you want to operate the cart on public roads, you must have a driver’s license.
